Product Characteristics

The chemistry and microstructure is controlled in these new advanced high strength steels (AHSS) sheet to realize improved stretchability, and to enable it to undergo stretch flanging, in which high degrees of localized flexing and stretching are generated. This has resulted in an increase in the hole expansion ratio to about 80%-an indicator of stretch flange formability. Stretch flanging steels being developed at Mittal Steel USA will have high strength, good formability and very high hole expansion capabilities. Microstructure of these steels can be complex and can contain ferrite, martensite, bainite and retained austenite.

Application

Stretch flanging steels can be used for automotive body structure and chassis applications, where the high formability and stretch flangeability of these products can be effectively used for manufacturing quality high performance parts.
