The Product Applications Division consists primarily of three distinct functions: Platform Management (for automotive, UHSS, appliance and other commercial and industrial customers), Applications Technology and Design, and Maintenance and Laboratory Services. Our principal goal is to identify the current and future needs of the marketplace and champion the application of new and existing concepts, processes and products that are consistent with manufacturing capability, and provide the highest value for Ispat International and its customers. We deliver revenue-equivalent cost-saving ideas to our customers.

Our engineers are assigned singly or as teams to help a specific customer or group of customers identify cost-saving, cost-avoidance and, in automotive, weight-reduction opportunities. They increase Mittal Steel's profitability by championing new and more manufacturable products. We work with OEM engineering groups and their parts suppliers in design, the selection of steel grades, prototyping, validation testing, and assistance in the development of manufacturing systems and steel products.
